Common questions
How do I export a WhatsApp chat?
- Open the chat in WhatsApp.
- 1-on-1 chat: tap the person's name at the top, scroll to the bottom and tap Export Chat.
Group chat: tap the ⋯ at the top, then Export Chat. - Choose Without Media.
- Tap Receipts in the share sheet. If you don't see it, tap More and turn Receipts on, or choose Save to Files and import the file from the app.
My chat won't import
Make sure you exported Without Media and are importing the .zip or .txt file WhatsApp created. Very old exports or exports in unusual languages may not be recognised; email us the language and date format (no chat content) and we'll add support.
The full read stopped or failed
Keep Receipts open while it reads; big chats take a few minutes and iOS pauses network activity when the screen locks. Tap Try again on the report. A retry of the same chat doesn't use up another Pro read.
How do I cancel Receipts Pro?
On your iPhone: Settings › tap your name › Subscriptions › Receipts Pro › Cancel Subscription. You keep Pro until the end of the week you've paid for.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles all payments, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Sign in, find Receipts and choose "Request a refund".
I paid but it's still locked
Open the app's Profile page and tap Restore purchases (or Restore on the upgrade screen). Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with.
My chat has more than 50,000 messages
A full read covers up to 50,000 messages. For bigger chats you choose: read the most recent 50,000 (included), or add extra packs of 50,000 messages ($4.99 each) to read the whole history. You can also start with the most recent and read the rest later; only the messages not read yet are read.
Can I use chats from Instagram, iMessage or Snapchat?
Yes. On the home screen choose Any other app, then screen-record yourself scrolling through a 1-on-1 chat in any app and import the video. Receipts reads the messages off the recording on your phone. Recordings don't include times, so reply-time stats are skipped.
Why 3 chats a week on Pro?
Reading every message of a big chat is real work for the model and costs us per message. Three full reads a week keeps Pro affordable. Need more? You can unlock any extra chat on its own.
How do I delete my data?
Everything lives on your iPhone. Delete a single result with the trash button on it, delete everything from Profile › Delete all my chats, or delete the app. We don't hold your chats, so there's nothing else to delete. See the privacy policy.
Are the results accurate?
Counts and timings come straight from your messages. Judgements like warmth or who started an argument are made message by message by a language model and can be wrong, which is why every result links to the messages behind it. Receipts is for fun and reflection, not a diagnosis.
